Custom Orthotics
WHAT ARE ORTHOTICS AND HOW CAN THEY HELP ME?
An orthotic is a device that can be discretely inserted into the shoe to support, align, prevent, and/or accommodate foot abnormalities and improve how the foot functions.
Used in conjunction with appropriate footwear, a foot orthotic can be effective in helping to treat a number of foot and lower limb problems including:
Orthotics can help address foot and lower limb pain, but also positively impact the low back, shoulders, and neck.
Foot Care
Your foot has 26 bones and we are trained in assessing alignment, adjusting the bones of the feet and ankles, gait analysis, taping for injuries and plantar fascia problems, and mobilizing the soft tissues of the feet. Malleable feet absorb shock and are generally more comfortable to walk on.
WHAT CONDITIONS CAN ORTHOTICS TREAT?
- Bursitis
- Flat Feet
- Bunions
- Heel spurs
- Plantar fasciitis
- Hammer toes
- High arches
- Back pain
Some conditions that are not musculoskeletal in origin can have symptoms that can be relieved by orthotics.
- Diabetes may cause diabetic neuropathy in the feet, resulting in reduced sensation in their feet that can lead to foot ulcers. Orthotics can correct alignment, resulting in equalized pressure on the foot, which will prevent excess wear or ulcers.
- Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis located anywhere in the body can result in poor resting or walking posture and result in uneven stresses and loads on the legs and feet. Orthotics can effectively correct these conditions.
Your feet are the foundation of your body, if your arches are dropping it can affect you all the way up to your neck.
